Some Books
October 3, 2007
I received my copy of Leonie Moore’s Some Forgotten Part today and it gets a big thumbs up:
“A young man sinks to the bottom of the ocean and awakens to find himself on the brink of an incredible journey. Join him on his remarkable quest of self discovery under the sea.”

The artwork is stunning, and the story is told with little dialogue. It is almost a mood poem set under the sea, a sort of existential wide screen epic. Imagine, if you will, Terence Malick’s take on The Little Mermaid and you wouldn’t be far off the mark. And it’s funny too. You can buy it over at lulu for the price of a round of drinks and support a local artist, in the meantime visit Leonie’s Portfolio site and blog. Mind you I’m biased because she’s apparently illustrating something I wrote, but more on that later (I hope).
Also from lulu I received my copy ofMarc Palm’s Swellzombie’s Lair of the Psychic Creature, a compendium of comics from his webcomic which I’ve already pimped on this blog.
Another quality production, Lair is a daily comic based on the exploits of imaginary creatures and plant-life. Although the comics serve mainly as little oddities and ideas, there are occasionally more joke based entries which work really well.

As a bonus, the book is profit-free cheap (about £5 with P+P) or FREE to download as a pdf file. It’s available at Lulu, and the quality of the books they produce is retail standard and very encouraging to someone considering self publishing a little something something… A 50 page Horse and Pylon comic anyone?
Thank you! ‘Terence Malick’s take on The Little Mermaid’ – I like that! Maybe that’s how I should’ve pitched the book to publishers!
So when is Horse and Pylon comic coming out then?
